Tutorial on night time make up

To achieve this simple yet perfect night out look  begin with the following:

1.Apply a base of foundation to even out your skin tone, making sure to blend into the hair line and around the neck. Make sure that your face is evenly covered and  there are no patches to start.

2. Apply concealer under the eyes and to the eye lids to block out any darkness that might have appeared through the foundation. This should give you an even base when it comes to applying eye shadow and also will make  your eyes seem brighter and more awake.

3. Apply loose powder all over your face to set your foundation and concealer. Make sure to put a little extra on the concealer under your eyes to make sure it sets and avoid creasing  as the night goes on.

4. The next step is to apply bronzer to the hallows of your cheeks. The best way to find out where exactly that is is to suck your cheeks in and that will give you the line of where your bronzer should be applied. Also bring it up around your temples and down to  your jaw bone. The best way to achieve this is by using a c motion. Make sure to blend  as well as you can to avoid it looking like a dark line across your face. The more you apply the stronger the look will be.

5. Apply blusher on the apples of your cheeks and then to soften it out bring it  up towards your temple. Any colour of blusher can be used , I used a blusher from Bobbi Brown called Apricot to give me a fresh look.

6.The next step is to fill in your eyebrows. These are one of the most important features of a persons face and can often be forgotten by many. There are many different products that can be used to get the perfect eyebrow. I personally use an eye pencil and an eyeshadow to set it. I use the pencil  to fill in the start of the brow and then mainly concentrate on the end. I then use and angles brush to smooth out the pencil and make  my desired eyebrow shape. Then  use a little eyeshadow to fill in any spaces you might have missed and also to set the pencil.

7. The next step is to apply an eye primer. My favourite at the moment is the Urban Decay one.Apply that all over the eye lid. Then using a bright orange apply that on the lid too making sure not to bring it over the crease.. This is used as the base colour. Then using a purple apply to the crease making sure to blend very well so that it blends perfectly into the orange . Then using a pencil brush(small pointy one) apply a bit of black into the  outer corner of the eye. Make sure to blend this out too using a blending brush. The less you blend the more dramatic it is but remember  you dont want it to look so obvious so blend the colour but remember you can keep adding more to get the intensity. then using the purple apply a small line of purple under the eye. Make sure it is blended out  and then with a little black apply that at the outter corner to give a more sultry look. I then used a gold liner to line my water line to open my eyes a bit so that they werent too dark. White could also be used. Also apply a little white eyeshadow to the inner eye and under your eyebrow . This will help to brighten it all up.

8. The next step is to apply gel liner to your eye lid. I went for the winged liner look but you could just as easily not. Its totally personal preference. Make sure thought to make it as even and smooth as possible . Nothing worse than patchy liner. Then apply lots and lots of mascara. You may even apply fake eyelashes for a more dramatic look.

9. Finish off your look with a bit of gloss. I used a natural one from Nars called Orgasm.

Voila :) Hope this helps and if you have an questions please dont hesitate to ask them :)

1950's Timeless Fashion and Beauty

The 1950's was a time where style exemplified class and grace. The make up was softer and more feminine .

·         Peaches and cream complexion was the basis of any 50’s make up.   It was applied as either a liquid or as pressed powder.   Eyebrows were usually narrowed.   Blush and eye shadow were minimal.
·        For the evening eyeliner was liquid, making sharp, highly defined contour. It was primarily on the upper lid.
·        Pastel colours were favoured for the day.  Red could be worn by day but it was usually used for the evening. Lips were lush and full.

The big influencing designers of the 50's were Chanel, Dior, Gucci and many more. These influential desingers brought us the "pencil skirt" and many   woman seem to wear " the Chanel Suit". These were only among some of  big  fashion statements that were made by designers. Dresses were a big rage but so were trousers and skirts. Fashion changed hugely for woman during this era. New fabric was created which gave a bigger choice for design which resulted in brighter colours. We also saw new discoveries such as the bikini and new designs for bags The Hermes Kelly bag gained its name from Grace Kelly who was seen holding a large one trying to hide her pregnant stomach. These bags were very popular during this era.

Hair in the 50's became more exciting and woman would spend more time and money on their hair.
Straight hair was  out and curls were in. Short hairstyles were also popular during this period.
Hair styles such as the feathered allure, soft bob look, swirlawave and the new wave were all
favourites of the early to mid 50's. Also not forgetting the Pompadour which was a huge 50's trend
along with soft curls and rolled bangs. These hairstyles define this period to a "T". They showed
elegance and promoted a new turn in fashion and beauty in this amazing era.

Hope you enjoy these little facts on my favourite era.

The Great 1950's

The 1950's was an era of great films, iconic movie stars and timeless fashion.  It introduced new ways of thinking and bringing different culture that still stands with us today. When we think of the 1950's we think of great stars like Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean, Eva Marie Saint and Marlon Brando. These stars brought new meaning to film and a new light to the movie industry. They were entertainers in their world and are still among some of the greatest actors that we have to this day.

During the 1950's we also were introduced to great musicians  like Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash and Nina Simone to name a few. These musicians exceeded the hopes of the public and today are still huge stars. They brought new meaning to the world of music and their genres.Today they are still inspirations to the new and upcoming musicians.

The 1950's was a strong era for great people. It was a new beginning after WW2 but yet still had some of its own difficulties with war still ongoing. It was not perfect but can you say any era has been. We all have seen the trouble these people suffered and yes some people were worse off but  over all it was an era of great entertainers, musicians and fashion. How can you not love it.!:)

Make Up Haul

So while I was travelling to Lyon to visit my cousin I decided that I would  kill some time and have a look through duty free. I suddenly found myself at the Clarins. I had heard so much about the Clarins beauty flash balm and I decided it was time to see what all the hype was about and wow do I agree! This stuff is amazing! I apply it everyday and wow the difference it has made I just LOVE it! I cant go anywhere without it! It feels so soft and light when you apply it and can be used as a great base for under your foundation.

I was then pulled towards MAC with their new line of Cook MAC products. The colours were amazing !However I didn't actuallly purchase any this time but I did how ever buy 2 lipsticks and a lip gloss. I  just had to get the Nicki Minag's lipstick. I just loved the colour! I also bought  the morange lipstick and  their hot pink gloss. Needless to say I have not been disappointed  with them! They are so easy to apply and complete a look in seconds.

I also decided that I would try out some NARS products after I watched a tutorial with them. I bought the illuminator(orgasm) and a lipgloss(orgasm). I absolutely love them . The lipgloss is the perfect shade for a natural lip with a shine. It goes on so well and finishes off any look. The illuminator is fab too. Just a little goes a long way with it! It's so easy to apply and perfect for this seasons trends. You will be glowing all day long :)

Finally I bought some Sephora eye liners to test them out. They are amazing. They are so soft and easy to apply. Great for smudging as well. They come in a huge range of colours and they are very reasonably priced!

Overall  great purchases that I will use in many looks that are soon to come:)

Hope this helps:)

New Goodies

Today I went a little mad and bought  new goodies for an event I have on Sunday. I decided I would go to Inglot as for me they are reasonably priced and I love their products. I had to get some funky lashes and some glitter and of course some Duo Glue(misplaced my last one) and lots of eyeshadows. I also purchased their Duraline. I have heard great things about it and decided it was definitely time to try it out! I'm uber excited to use it.
The eyeshadows I picked were in mind for a particular look for the event on Sunday but they would be great for a night out look as well. There are so many nice colours for a smokey eye in the palette. I cant wait to use  them to recreate  one. Keep an eye out for  some pictures using them and how to recreate it yourself.

High Fashion/ Avante Garde Make up

High Fashion is my  favourite area in make up. It allows you to get really creative taking it to the next step though this is one area that some people can go wrong. They often confuse fantasy with it. You have to remember that yes it is out there but  I would never put feathery eyelashes or jewels in my  looks. It can make the look  less effective . Here is an example of one of my high fashion shoots  that I created and also took the photos and chose the outfit.  Hope you enjoy it . I will list below the steps that  I took to create it.

Firstly I  applied a natural base and then applied a bit of illuminator to give a natural glow to her skin . Following that I used a translucent powder to matte down her skin to avoid too much shine , I then contoured her face giving her strong cheek bones using bronzer and then used a pinky blush to give her a warm natural glow.
For the eyes I firstly used  a gold and orange to fill in the socket and the lid, using the gold on the lid and orange in the socket I blended it well to create a smooth effect. Then came he most important part of the look the eyeliner. I used a gel liner to achieve the look.I started from the inner part of the eye bringing it out in little strokes to ensure a smooth line. I then did the same underneath and brought them together at a point. Then to finish off I applied two coats of black mascara to ensure her lashes were full and long. You could also apply lashes if you liked.

For the eyebrows, I wanted them to be the main feature on the face so I made them thick and slanting upwards to give the illusion that the face was lifted. I then placed little dots above them to bring even more attention to them but it also added something extra to the look to make it stand out even more.

Then finally for the lips I just used a gold shimmer on them keeping them neutral compared to the rest of the face.

Hope you enjoyed my look and if you have any questions ask below and I will be sure to answer them:)
